Lindsay Stumpff
Head Coach
Lindsay Stumpff has been head coach for the Spartan softball team since 2006. Stumpff has rebuilt the Spartan softball program from the ground up, starting with quality area talent. As the program has earned respect in the region, Coach Stumpff has been able to expand her recruiting base.
Stumpff came to Southwestern from Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, NC. At Belmont Abbey, she served as assistant coach for the softball and volleyball programs. During her time at Belmont Abbey, she participated in individual workouts, recruiting, and conditioning. She was instrumental in the team winning a conference championship and qualifying for an NCAA Regional Berth in Division II. Prior to her stint at Belmont Abbey, she was an assistant coach at Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, IA.
Coach Stumpff is originally from Brooklyn, IA. She attended Waldorf College where she played basketball and softball and attained her associate’s degree. Two years later she graduated from Mount Mercy with her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. While a student at Mount Mercy, she played on the softball team.
In addition to her coaching duties at Southwestern, Stumpff is the director of residential life.
Darin Monroe
Assistant Coach
Monroe grew up in Ossian and graduated from South Winneshiek High School in 2004, where he was an All-Conference catcher. After graduation, he attended Luther College in Decorah, where he played on the Norse baseball team. In 2008, Monroe graduated from Luther with a bachelor’s degree in sports management and physical education.
During the past six years, Monroe has been an assistant varsity baseball and softball coach, as well as being heavily involved in the youth programs at South Winneshiek. Currently Monroe is head softball coach at Lamoni High School as well as a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
